Amey PLC provide vital infrastructure and business services that practically everyone, everywhere in the UK relies upon. They came to us with a newly drafted set of values they wanted employees to embrace as a framework for superior service delivery.
Making values 'do-able'
Through a series of workshops with key stakeholder groups we ‘road-tested’ and fine-tuned the proposed values, and elicited tangible and real life examples of the values in action. We then developed a simple communication platform ‘It’s how we do things’ that moved the values from intangible concepts to tangible and ‘do-able’ behaviours. Real employees from across the business featured strongly in the creative, with six photoshoots utilised as part of the communication and engagement process.
Going beyond awareness
A wide range of collateral – from desk-drops to animations to environmental branding – was developed as part of an integrated communication campaign.
And recognising that simply cascading values risks employees become a passive audience , we developed an innovative dialogue toolkit for managers. This assisted the cascade process and engaged the wider employee population in understanding and living the values.
Amey subsequently gained Investors in People Champion status for going above and beyond in the way it develops, supports and motivates its employees. Strong internal values that were genuinely lived and understood were cited as key to achieving this.
