A CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN THAT MADE EMPLOYEES STOP AND THINK

Giving Anglo American employees a chance to right the wrongs with positive cyber security behaviours.

Challenge

Anglo American approached us to address a growing need to increase awareness of cyber security risks for their global workforce and improve employee behaviours.

They needed a unifying position, principles and a strategic campaign that would get everyone on the same page.

The ambition was to create a safer proactive culture across a range of different cyber security risk profiles and localised needs.

There was also a need for a stand-out interactive learning experience – a departure from the norm to spark employee intrigue.

We first established a new creative platform, spearheaded by the #CyberYou campaign in 2021 establishing new ‘SECURE’ principles for cyber security.

It was important for an approach that felt personal. So we tailored communications to different audiences with regional toolkits and activations about how to be cyber secure at home with family, at work and on the move.

Following the success of #CyberYou, in 2022 we followed this with a stand-out employee experience – REWIND.

REWIND was an interactive video ‘game’ where employees play the role of ‘Alex’, an Anglo American employee, making choices to help her navigate increasingly perilous cyber security threats.

Fatal mistakes lead to a ‘rewind’ giving players a chance to go back and make better choices to save the day.

Impact

#CyberYou was quickly embedded as the creative platform for cyber security communications at Anglo American.

Following a successful launch of REWIND, 97% of survey respondents reported that it was useful and ‘definitely’ wanted more content like this, providing a chance for more experiential cyber security communications in the future.
